  • Novum was contracted in a Designer Assist role to develop the solution, engineer, furnish and install the canopy for the Summit Park Glass Pavilion in Blue Ash, OH. The 128 ft long span of the canopy is achieved with two double-layered HSS beams which run over the main V-shape columns. The double HSS members were welded together in our steel fabrication shop in three segments. Each segment was spliced with a hidden bolted connection to achieve a shop finish quality. The V-shape columns and branches help shorten the span of the main beam members and the longest spanning purlins for the canopy. On top of the steel is a multicoloured glass layout that achieves stunning shadows on the ground as the sun passes through the sky.

The structure consists of liquid factory painted HSS members. To achieve the long spans, and limit the site welding, a combination of exposed and hidden bolts is used to create the aesthetics.

Novum edge clamps with silicone joints are used to support the glass panels along their edges. The glass uses coloured interlayers in the laminate makeup to create the six different colours of glass on the canopy.
