Novum worked alongside the main contractor, Mace, on the regeneration of Bracknell town centre. Novum worked on the design, engineering, manufacturing and installation of three canopies to transform the dated walkways of the shopping mall. Each unique walkway was carefully considered and used different Novum systems and a combination of materials. Our ETFE Stressed Skin Membrane (SSM) system was used on the Eagle Lane canopy, a steel and ETFE SSM system was used on Stanley Walk and finally, our Edge Clamped Glass (ECG) cladding system was used for the Charles Street canopy. The canopy on Charles Street is 90m long, which proved to be particularly challenging due to its city centre location and the amount of glass to install; 220 triangular glass panels were fixed to the timber structure. The overall result has revitalised Bracknell’s shopping district.
