Suspended Steel Façade

An elegant system used in facades to achieve high transparency.

LEARN

What Is A SSF System?

The primary components are mild steel horizontal girts. The horizontal girts are typically rectangular in shape and can be standard HSS tubes, solid steel bars, or custom-built laser welded sections. The secondary components are stainless steel tension rods, made of Grade 316 stainless steel.

Why Choose Suspended Steel Façade

This system is used for facades where a high amount of transparency is desired, particularly near eye level.

CUSTOM IN APPLICATION

Horizontal girts span between building columns. There is no need for any additional steel below the lowest horizontal steel member, typically 8’ to 12’ (2.5m to 3.5m) above the floor level. The horizontal girts are rotated such that the long dimension is perpendicular to the façade and the depth of the girts in the direction parallel to the façade is typically 4” (100mm) or less, for maximum transparency.

FACTORY FINISHED

Horizontal girts are typically primed and painted with a high performance polysiloxane top coat. The stainless steel tension rods are typically satin finish stainless steel.

ASSEMBLY

Typically used in conjunction with Novum’s Point Supported Glass or Edge Clamped Glass Systems, designs typically feature mechanically fastened connections and architectural quality welds.
